The Coffee Agriculture Cooperative "El Quinacho" Ltda. is an organization of small producers located in the VRAEM. It was founded on November 14th 1970 by the farmers with the purpose of defending fair prices for coffee, cacao and other agricultural products of the area. Also, they wanted to avoid intermediation in the commercialization of the products, and to offer certain services to their associates to improve their living standards.


 

 

"El Quinacho" cooperative's action area starts in the south valleys of the Apurimac and Ene river, and composes the departments of Ayacucho, Cuzco and Junin. At the moment it has 455 active partners throughout the Valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro rivers, of which 168 producers are conventional and 287 are part of the organic crops program. These have an organic, fair trade and UTZ Cacao certification. All together they have 320 Has of Coffee and 1024.50 Has of Cacao, with anual production of 150tm kg and 937,925tm of cacao.

The Cooperative "El Quinacho" have been exporting their coffee and cacao grains for many years to the most demanding United States and European markets. They exported 11,250.48 QQ/46 kg of coffee in 2008 and 1,347.84 MT of cacao in 2010.

In the 2017 campaign they exported 37 containers of cacao with BIOBLO and local slaes of 800 qq of cofee

For the 2018 campaign, the cooperative signed export contracts for 28 containers of cacao with Fair Trade Organic Certifications. Each containers had 25.2 MT and they commercialized 700 MT of cacao, and achieved local sales of 750 qq of coffee.

Finally, for the 2019 campaign, they sold 530MT of cacao with organic and fair trade certifications (BIOFLO) and 730 qq of coffee to the local market.
